How Do Government Agencies Acquire Ultrasound Systems?
Over the past 12-24 months, we have tracked and noted a significant rise in the overall number of rfps, bid requests and purchases being submitted by city, county, state, and federal government agencies for Radiology and Imaging systems/solutions. As it pertains specifically to Ultrasound, while the numbers have pointed downward recently, the opportunities for ultrasound and related products and services are still out there.
If the 2015 calendar year plays out similar to 2014, you should be prepared to see a substantial rise in activity in the number of RFPs and bid requests. Similar to any service or product, regardless if the number of potential opportunities is growing, stagnant, or falling, the rules of the game are still the same. Companies with the right ultrasound, and related, solutions and support, and who are prepared to respond and deliver, will succeed.
Since a 12-month high that ran from August-September of 2014, in terms of number of ultrasound Bid Requests/RFPs, there was drop off in Q4. It is our opinion, at least a portion of this can be attributed to the natural realities of end of year budgets. We will continue to monitor and report on the anticipated recovery. Our optimism is shared by others…
As itn (Imaging Technology News), covered in their article on January 14th, 2015, they expect to see double growth in ultrasound imaging equipment purchases from today to 2020. To see their article, “Ultrasound Equipment Market Growth Driven by Advanced 3-D and 4-D Imaging Technology”.
