Professional Services Outsource and Contracts Abound in Public Sector
Professional Services, by the numbers:
What do U.S. and Canadian governments/public sector agencies buy? If you’re response is something along the lines of “everything”, you have the right idea and clearly understand the government purchasing scene. As we reported recently, the numbers for bids and contracts in 2016 broke records. As we’ve known for quite some time, solicitations for professional services annually outpace other purchasing categories.
Over any random day, we have thousands of various professional services bid requests in our database. As a result of our observations of the consistent flow of professional services bids, over the past years, we have paid particular attention to these areas. Our most recent reports on professional services include Bill Culhane’s February 2015 blog.
To provide updated data, in June 2016, Bill led the production team that created this video report and analysis. Spoiler alert: Speaking of that video, pay attention when Bill highlights why keywords are superior to codes. Anyone doing business in professional services understands how only particular opportunities are relevant to you.
At first glance, the below categories appear to encompass services and solutions which government/public sector agencies could handle in-house. While that’s true, there are thousands upon thousands of examples whereby those entities are outsourcing. In this analysis, we focused primarily on the below, again, not to suggest that these are the only ‘professional services’ solutions on the minds of U.S. and Canadian governments.
Types of leading Professional Services categories:
- Consulting
- Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations
- Attorney, Legal, Law
- Accounting and Actuarial
- Human Resources, Personnel, Benefits
- Management
- Engineering
- Architect
