How is Public Sector Investing in Healthcare Digital Solutions?

Technology is permeating throughout society in various ways. Almost every facet of our lives is slowly being replaced or improved with advancing technology. One of the many ways that we’re benefitting is through digital solutions taking over job processes that we’ve never thought of. One of those is healthcare.

Healthcare services is a slow moving industry. Because of the amount of people in this country that need help and the lack of resources be it medicine or manpower, distribution of health services and information previously seemed stuck to traditional methods. Many companies saw this deficit in the industry and decided to fill it with data, pattern recognition software and more.

One of the biggest things to come out of this new wave was Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Chart management has been a thorn in the health industry’s side for a while. With the development of EMR’s (which are usually distributed within a practice) and EHR’s (which allow for sharing of patient information across practices) hospitals can now share medical records and patient history to the patient and doctor’s benefit.

Another way traditional methods are becoming new is with “telemedicine”. In the past, doctors would arrive at your doorstep with a black bag when you called, today they show up on your phone with a smile. This new trend of remote health is becoming more relevant by the day. With the popularity increasing and workplaces including this as a health benefit, getting a check up at a doctor’s office may be a thing of the past.

Pharmaceutical automation is beginning to create an efficient solution to some of the manufacturing processes in the health industry. From pharmaceutical packaging to sorting and distributing pills into bottles, automation saves time and money in the long run. One of the biggest benefits in line with remote health is “teleradiology”.

Teleradiology is the distribution of a patient’s radiological images from a healthcare facility to offsite radiologists for further review and examination. This is great for rural areas where there may not be an experienced radiologist on staff. The implementation of this can help save the lives of those not in populous areas or away from experienced health professionals.

Technology solutions involving disease and pathogen management have been coming to the forefront lately due to rise of health complications in the United States. With the use of clinical decision support systems (CDS), providers can interpret clinical results, review a patient’s health status, and use notifications to prescribe medications along with customized data entry forms. Using the data received, there can be tracking for patterns related to opioid abuse. Using algorithms, agencies can survey areas that are receiving a high amount of traffic related to opioids and use surveillance in the area to see if abuse is occurring and contacting the correct groups.

Technology is driving the healthcare industry towards the future to the benefit of everyone. BidPrime will continue to stay up to date on all of the industry trends and advancements. From BidPrime, thanks for watching.
