What Do Governments Need to Care for 2 Million Adults in Corrections Facilities?

In the United States today, there are close to 200,000 inmates in the U.S. federal prison system. In total, across all levels, there are approximately 2 million adults incarcerated in U.S. prisons, jails, and other corrections-related facilities.

We have reported a number of times on U.S. public sector investment in the corrections industry. As a matter of fact, here is Anna Barnett’s report from back in April 2015.

What does it take to incarcerate millions of people a year? Every month in the U.S. there are literally 100’s of prisons and corrections-related purchase requests. Agencies are soliciting and buying services, solutions, equipment, materials, construction, and more.
