BidPrime Spotlight: Brien Allen
Brien Allen is one of the invaluable account engineers at our Austin offices. Brien helps ensure our client’s accounts are setup precisely as our clients need. In addition, he helps with the initial setup of accounts, as businesses are evaluating our services. Born in Corpus Christi, Brien also lived in San Antonio and Kerrville, before calling Austin, Texas, home.
Brien is a self taught guitarist who started playing at the age of 14! Since his father was a petroleum geophysicist, Brien also came to love science and math, because to him, it was very similar to music. He attended the University of Texas, while majoring in petroleum engineering.
About halfway through his college experience, Brien had a bit of a “quarter life crisis” where he realized that his ultimate passion wasn’t really engineering or even money, but music. Despite considering dropping his major, Brien finished strong, graduating Summa Cum Laude in December of 2014, and was the valedictorian of the Petroleum Engineering department.
Upon graduation, Brien found a job doing surfactant/polymer oil recovery research in the EOR (enhanced oil recovery) labs at the University of Texas. Simultaneously, he started up his music career by joining a couple of bands and touring.
Around that time, while continuing his blossoming music career, Brien joined our team at BidPrime. Brien has focused on new projects “that’s much more artistically fulfilling”, while also focusing on his freelance career as a contract lead guitarist, working within multiple music communities (namely, the heavy metal community and the alternative-funk-blues scene). He is also working on a technical metal project, which demands a high level of precision.
To say the least, we are elated that Brien has brought his enormous skill, talents, and attention to detail, to our Austin team. According to Brien, “My experience at BidPrime has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s by far the best job I’ve ever had. It allows me to do what I love, it promotes amazing work-life balance, and the culture and the people are really what make the BidPrime experience into what it is.” He added, “I’m very grateful for everything I have in my life, and BidPrime is definitely part of that.”
DID YOU KNOW? With one of Brien’s bands, he actually recorded an album, in Ohio, with Craig Owens of Chiodos (a childhood idol of his), as the producer. After this, the band went on their first tour across the U.S. midwest and released two music videos.
